JOHNNY SOCKO - B.F.E. KANSAS WINTER 2001

It started off as a fine tour of Colorado - good shows, good times, and so on...

Here's our truck, looking fashionable in front of some mountains we found. By this point in the tour, the rear wheels were starting to make some noise, but we thought nothing of it, and headed back to Indiana after the last show in Denver. Then, at 2 in the afternoon, somewhere on the highway in western Kansas...

Blammo! The two rear tires fly off the truck at 75 miles an hour, narrowly missing a car behind us. Needless to say, it woke everyone out of their bunks in a real hurry. The rear of the truck slammed down on the highway, and Chris managed to wrestle the thing to the side of the road without hurting anyone.

Josh found one of our wheels in a field a few hundred yards back

And here's where we ended up - Bum F*** Egypt Kansas, population nobody!

Luckily, the town of Oakley, Kansas was not too far up the road. We parked in front of Mel's for the next three days, and got real familiar with the town (nice people).

Mel loaned us his mom's car so we could get to the bowling alley and the local truck stop for showers. Here's D, just about to lose his mind. What a tour!
